Working professionals pursue education on a part-time basis for many reasons—personal enrichment, job enhancement, preparation for a career change or returning to advanced studies after taking time to raise a family.
Offering master’s degree and certificate programs that combine real-world experience with classroom instruction, the Extended Studies Division conducts classes in a traditional manner with admission and graduation standards the same as those required on campus. In one year’s time more than 1,500 students may be enrolled in one of nearly 40 degree or certificate programs offered through Extended Studies.
Curriculum is designed with the mind set that students want to study along with their peers who bring international perspectives, professional expertise and remarkable energy to the classroom. Building on Florida Tech’s success as a university that values the pursuit of excellence in technology and the sciences, entrepreneurship at all levels is welcomed and encouraged.
The 2008 Summer semester begins Monday, April 28, 2008. Prospective students may contact any Extended Studies site for an application or registration questions. Graduate degree programs offered vary by site or location.
Describe your level of excitement for teaching. "I get excited about teaching because it gives me the opportunity to tell students about actual events that take place using the knowledge they are learning in the classroom."
What do you bring to the classroom that differentiates you from other instructors? "What differentiates me from other instructors is the broadness and depth of my background and education. I have worked in DoD, NASA, Industry and now State Government. With five degrees ranging from business to environmental engineering, I've about touched everything."
What motivates you? "Helping people reach for their next goal and the happiness they receive in that accomplishment."
