Florida Tech has a new policy, effective the Fall 2004 term, regarding student accounts in Blackboard. Students, faculty and other Blackboard users will NOT be able to create their own accounts. Instead, the Center for Distance Learning will be generating accounts for users in conjunction with their TRACKS (fit.edu email) account. These accounts will for the most part be based on TRACKS usernames -- i.e., if an email address is 'jsmith@fit.edu', then the corresponding Blackboard account will be 'jsmith'.
Additionally, as part of the preparations for this new policy, many obsolete and unused accounts were removed from the system. Specifically, accounts that were not enrolled in any courses were deleted. Accounts which were enrolled in one or more courses were left on the system, although they are deprecated and will eventually be removed. Use of these accounts is strongly discouraged.
If you currently have an fit.edu address, you have been assigned a Blackboard account and you should check your fit.edu email for your account information. If you did not receive or no longer have your Blackboard account information, call the Center For Distance Learning at 321-674-8881.
If you are not sure if you have an fit.edu address, or need to have your password reset in order to access your fit.edu email, please contact the Florida Tech Help Desk at 321-674-7284.
